Matchless Businesses In The Souks Of The UAE!

While going around in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or one of the other Emirates don’t miss the chance of enjoying a visit to some characteristic souks, where you are going to get in touch with phantastic products.

Apart from their ever-changing moods, what surely captivates tourists is the unexpected selection of different items on sale. Most of them are exposed outside each store, but each vendor keeps at the same time as many other items inside his shop as possible!

Just like by means of a magician stick, in my personal experience the seller showcases additional versions of the items you were initially interested in, while giving you information about their usage.

It happened to me: he drew out from a hidden stand a selection of additional products and began explaining theirfeatures with great abundance of details. My reaction was immediate : why was
he showcasing so many different objects instead of waiting for my decision among the ones I was attracted by? I didn’t have to wait: because they all represented the classical Arabian tradition, he answered.

Indeed, they were part of the Arab world: metal camels (to be honest, they were dromedaries…), jewel cases, multicoloured scarves, and amphorae. At the end, he was so capable to make me buy even nine products after a long bargaining about their price, obviously. Small masterpieces of handicraft, I must admit.

There was another anectode happened during my tours throughout the UAE souks which is well-worth mentioning. That time I was in Dubai along the Creek in a very old souk market. I looked at some shishas – the characteristic Arabian water pipes for smoking which are often available in many cafes – showcased in a shop window and boasting different, beautiful colours. While I was asking the friends of mine about which one was to be considered the most suitable as a present for my father, the vendor came back to us with a quite large jewel case which he promptly opened to show us its content: a number of very bright amber pendants, each of them being available with several necklaces… Though attracted by such a wonderful selection I could not avoid asking why he was suggesting amber pendants and necklaces while we were interested in shishas: “Well” – he calmly answered – “Because they beautifully match with the amber ring you have on!”

Don’t forget: a souk seller steadily has a good answer to your questions as well as a suitable reason to sell you something! At the same time, don’t forget that the chance of making big businesses at incredibly convenient rates in the UAE souks is undoubtedly high.
